The Consumer Directed Service (CDS) program is an incredible program that puts the care of an individual in their own hands. If someone needs help around their home and is of sound mind, they are able to hire their own personal care attendants to provide home care services enabling them to live independently.
Participants in the CDS program are trained to hire their own attendants to assist them with daily tasks such as: Bathing/Showering, Toileting, Obtaining/Organizing Medication, Meal Preparation, Clean-up, Housekeeping/Laundry, and Essential Transportation. We will provide training on hiring and managing attendants for CDS participants.

Benefits of CDS Programs
Proactive Home Healthcare Solutions CDS program is a consumer-controlled model. Consumer control entails that the person with a disability receiving services is the employer of the personal care attendant. Program participants are responsible for locating, hiring, setting work schedules and managing their own attendant. A qualified friend or family member may be hired as an attendant, with the exception of a spouse or anyone under the age of 18. The attendant must have a clean background check through the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry before being employed by a CDS participant. Under the CDS program, Medicaid requires an “Agency” to be appointed to manage the care, who will act as coordinator between the individual client and the program. This is where Proactive Home Healthcare comes, we handle all of the details for you so your appointed caregiver can focus on providing care and not be burdened with administration and paperwork.
